Part-time: Food Tour Guide
Discover Richmond Tours is looking for an outgoing and passionate tour guide to lead two- to three-hour guided, walking food tours. The tours combine local history with stops at multiple restaurants, cafes, and culinary destinations, giving guests a flavor of one of Richmond’s neighborhoods. We are looking for a friendly guide who will be a great ambassador for Discover Richmond Tours, as well as the city of Richmond and its food scene.
Do you: Love Richmond? Possess a high energy level and the confidence to lead tours in a timely, friendly, and intelligent fashion? Have the ability to communicate and interact well with others? Feel confident leading up to 15 people on a tour? If you answered YES and have a passion for food, you may be our ideal candidate!
Guiding food tours is a fun way to be involved in Richmond’s diverse food scene, meet tons of interesting people, and be a part of a growing local business. We offer scheduling flexibility, paid guide training, and competitive compensation. The starting pay rate is $14/hour, and our guides typically take home $30-34/hour on average when gratuities are added.
Currently hiring for mostly weekend shifts, totaling 3-6 hours per week!

Our interview consists of two parts:
A Q&A.We want to learn more about you and your interests, and how they align with what we’re looking for. We’ll also tell you about Discover Richmond Tours and our expectations for tour guides. And you’ll get a chance to ask any questions you have.
A mock tour. You’ll give a quick 10- to 15-minute tour of one section of Church Hill, including just a couple minutes about one key landmark (we’ll send you some basic information about it in advance). We want to see you in action! Historical accuracy isn’t important at this stage – what is important is being engaging, interesting, and good at small talk as we walk.
Part-time: Bus Driver & Brewery Tour Guide
Discover Richmond Tours is seeking a responsible driver to drive three- to five-hour private bus rental excursions and holiday lights tours around Richmond and the surrounding areas. As a driver, you’ll safely transport groups of up to 14 passengers, ensuring they have a fun and memorable experience while navigating the city. We’re looking for a friendly, reliable individual who will serve as a great ambassador for Discover Richmond Tours and for the city of Richmond.
Do you: Love Richmond and know the area well? Possess high energy and excellent interpersonal skills? Have a valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record Enjoy interacting with others in a fun, social environment?
If you answered YES, you may be our ideal candidate!
We offer:
- Flexible scheduling
- Paid training
- Competitive pay: Starting rate of $20/hour, with the potential to earn $30-35/hour when tips are included (in 2023, average tips were $15 per hour worked)
- No CDL required
Most bus rentals take place in the evenings or on weekend afternoons, and the position is part-time, typically one event per week (more events available during peak holiday lights season in the end of October and throughout December).

Our hiring process consists of three parts:
Interview. We want to learn more about you and your interests, and how they align with what we’re looking for, as well as your existing knowledge of craft beer. We’ll also tell you about Discover Richmond Tours and our expectations for drivers and guides. And you’ll get a chance to ask any questions you have.
Driving Record. You’ll need to fill out a few forms and we’ll pull your driving record from the DMV.
Training. We’ll go through our training program to teach you how to handle our 14-passenger bus. No CDL is required!

Feel confident leading up to 15 people on a tour? If you answered YES and have a passion for getting outdoors in Richmond, you may be our ideal candidate!
Guiding hiking tours is a fun way to get outdoors, meet tons of interesting people, and be a part of a growing local business. We offer scheduling flexibility, paid guide training, and competitive compensation. The starting pay rate is $14/hour, and our guides typically take home $20-25/hour on average when gratuities are added.
Currently hiring for weekend mornings, totaling 2-4 hours per week!
