6 Of The Best Breakfast Spots In Richmond, VA
Breakfast is well-known to be the most important meal of the day, and Richmond’s restaurants and cafes are ready to provide you with the kickstart you need to get going. At Discover Richmond Tours, we’re HUGE fans of breakfast (hash browns and anything with bacon are our favorites), so we decided to put together a list of 6 great RVA breakfast spots.
Can Can Brasserie
You might know Can Can for it’s bustling lunch and dinner service, but did you know it’s also coffee house (take away only) with a small, but tasty breakfast menu from 9-10:30 AM Wednesday through Saturday? With several fully-trained baristas on staff, a pastry bakery putting out excellent morning treats, and a menu of French-inspired breakfast items, Can Can is great for a delicious morning.
Did you know that Can Can is frequently a stop on our Carytown Food Tour?
Early Bird Biscuit Co.
From the city’s best buttermilk biscuit to homemade poptarts, Early Bird Biscuit Co. is an easy choice when trying to decide on breakfast. Open in the Fan from 7AM-1PM Tuesdays through Fridays, and 7AM-12PM on Saturdays, Early Bird is a must visit for any local or tourist. The Biscuits N’ Crazy (at just $6.50!) is sawmill gravy with local Virginia sausage and slathered onto a freshly baked buttermilk biscuit. Need we say more?
Lamplighter Coffee Roasters
This one’s not a restaurant in the traditional sense, but its still very much worth your breakfast time. A leader in locally-owned coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries, you’ll love both the food and the atmosphere. The Slayer (toasted bagel and cream cheese with a maple Sriracha glazed pork sausage patty) is one of our absolute faves. Plus, Lamplighter is open 7 days a week!
LUNCH.SUPPER!
You should know that despite the name, LUNCH.SUPPER! serves breakfast all day, every day, with a pretty extensive menu to boot. Choose from signature brunch items including biscuits and gravy or waffles, 3-egg omelettes, and various other specialties. If you’re having trouble deciding, we always default to chicken and waffles, made with buttermilk fried chicken.
Millie’s Diner
We’re pretty sure you haven’t officially experienced Richmond until you’ve tried the Devil’s Mess at Millie’s Diner. Watch the chefs make it for you in the open kitchen, and enjoy the mini jukeboxes and full-size mimosas while you wait. Be sure to go early, though, or you’ll find everyone else in Richmond clamoring for it at the same time.
Perly’s
Perly’s is exactly what you need when you’re craving an authentic Jewish delicatessen. We’re talking Corned Beef Hash, Bagel & Lox, and Cinnamon Babka French Toast. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu – in fact, just ask Food & Wine Magazine, which recently named Perly’s to America’s Best Jewish Delis!
