How amazing is it that Richmond is home to a world-class art museum? While admission to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) is free, the museum offers special exhibits several times per year that are free to VMFA members (or cost $10-$16/person for non-members). Do you know someone who puts cheese above all else? (Certainly not us… cough cough). Truckle Cheesemongers, RVA’s own cheese shop, has Cheese and Butter Club Subscriptions, a monthly curation of thoughtful cheeses and butters available in 1-, 3-, or 6-month options. The organization focuses on hard-to-find cheeses with delicious, individual flavor profiles. And they have a homemade Beer Cheese made with local beer that is absolutely delicious!

Richmond has no shortage of incredible photographers, artists, and muralists! Local Richmond photographer Doug Ash has taken some of the most breathtaking shots of RVA we’ve seen, and you can get them as canvas and framed prints or acrylic and wood prints. Or check out RVA Coffee Stain, a local artist and cartoonist who creates fun art prints highlighting RVA.

Virginia History Ornament

This year’s 2023 Virginia History Ornament features a whimsical, holiday interpretation of the Capitol of Virginia, an historic structure located in Richmond, depicted here in gingerbread, icing, and candy. The Virginia History Ornament has been a tradition at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture since 2018. Past ornaments have included the various regions of the Commonwealth, the Virginia-made Kline Kar, and a magnolia wreath with an assortment of Virginia historical symbols.
